I am craving some cured meats. La Quercia – in IOWA of all places. . . . has a lovely selection but they are not here in my kitchen right now and I am realizing that something must be done about this.
I am a New Yorker – a glorious place where every food you could want is on hand or very close. This is the thing I find lamentable about Bloomington, Indiana. Where is my Italian deli/bakery with real Italians inside making fresh mozzarella every day and always amazing fresh breads and cookies and olives and cured meats stacked all over the place and hanging from the ceiling and they make the best sandwich you can imagine. . . such a powerful memory that I can smell it. I close my eyes and I am there and that will have to be enough for tonight.
