small town on a thursday night

A birthday party tonight. For the friend of a friend. It was quiet, some good conversation. They decided to play poker and as they crammed too many people around a too small table I decided to observe. What I was able to decide by watching is that I am a better poker player than perhaps I realized. Too many people betting away all their chips on mediocre hands, so unwilling just to fold. If you have a great hand, play it. Be willing to fold a lot – especially early in the game when you are trying to get a handle on who you are at the table with.
I think I want to play cards more – this would be fun. Perhaps I have a new hobby for my small town, thursday nights.
